In the meantime, Jug's personal life is blowing up. This comes back to bite him when Penny teams up with the Ghoulies and announces war on the Serpents. Jughead fights back, taking down Penny and literally banishing her from the Serpents (he carves out her tattoo for good measure). "Insurance," as she puts it, "so you do what I say." She later will use this to hold over his head. In exchange for help, Penny has Jug run an errand for her, an errand that was actually pretty illegal. This ends up not going too well when his relationship with Penny turns toxic, fast. At the inauguration for his new position, he is arrested for the murder of Cassidy Bullock, a set up by none other than Hiram, who's henchman, Andre, is the one who murdered Cassidy when he attempted to rob the Lodge country house. Unfortunately, Archie's high doesn't last too long. Later though, Archie returns the car as it seems to create a riff in his relationship with his actual father, Fred (duh).Īrchie ends the season by winning class president! He also takes a moment to confront Hiram about manipulating him after his father's shooting. In exchange for this hard work, Hiram gifts Archie a brand new car, because Hiram can only show affection through gifts.
So, yeah, he's really in it now.Īrchie spends a majority of the season as Hiram's lapdog, helping him out with various tasks, even aggressively scaring off two other mob bosses who attempt to take out Hiram. Not only does Archie LOVE the idea, but he swears his loyalty to Hiram with a literal blood oath. *Drum roll please*.It's a prison! A private, for-profit prison on the land of Southside High. Now that he's in deep with the Lodge's, he finally gets to hear what Hiram's big SoDale project is all about. So, he lies to the agent, which in the end happens to be the right decision since Hermoine actually hired Agent Adams to test Archie's loyalty.
This is complicated because Archie has recently got in good with his girlfriend's father, even helping him out with various tasks. He's looking into Hiram Lodge and his ties to organized crime and wants Archie's help. Later in the season, Archie gets contacted by Special Agent Adams of the FBI.
